Commercial terms and conditions

CAPS charge a repair connection fee to a bodyshop plus under certain circumstances a third party application provider data usage fee.

The original CAPS xml 1 schema allows all the UK repair management systems to automatically transmit comprehensive job repair status to any pre authorised third party.

CAPS xml 2 will transmit all the invoice line item details of a job so that a potential then exists for new Invoice matching CAPS enabled applications to be developed that could compare this submitted invoice with an Insurer copy of the approved estimate. Then within preset tolerances per line item, these new applications could create automatic payment signals to the repairer.

CAPS xml 2 also contains the ability for repairers to automatically receive into their management systems direct work instructions from CAPS that will replace the traditional FAX.

2.21 CAPS repairer connection charges

CAPS ‘xml 1’ or ‘xml 2’ data sets will each cost the repairer £50 per month per site for either set. In some cases, the work provider may want both claims tracking and invoice matching data which would involve subscription to both data sets. In this event CAPS would apply a discount making the total for both sets just £75.00 per month. Also if an insurer provides less than 12 jobs per month average through CAPS to any repairer, these charges also attract a further low volume discount of 50%.

2.22 CAPS data usage fees

There is an ever increasing need by the work provider and their policyholders for accurate and timely motor claims status information. The work provider’s response to these needs has been to introduce time consuming labour intensive web based manual update systems that continues to increase the overhead costs of their bodyshop networks with double entry key data and largely unnecessary duplicated effort. CAPS is a bodyshop led IT initiative that automates this information transfer to lower their overhead costs whilst seamlessly delivering more accurate and timely information to the work provider.

These fees are based upon volume discounted scale charges from the annualised third parties motor claim volume going through CAPS. A work provider and or insurer can take the raw xml data direct from CAPS and create their own internal business applications and reporting tools, or authorise a third party CAPS enabled application provider to deliver the required functionality on their behalf then these data usage fees are FOC.

The annual claims volume is per insurer/work provider for end user brands, or is the total volume from multiple work provider claims for the application OEM. All prices are based upon a minimum 2 year contract.

The OEM charges ONLY apply to those application providers that sell on the CAPS data for profit and additional sales income. If they provide the CAPS data to an insurer as a FOC service then these CAPS data OEM usage charges are also FOC to that application provider.

For further details of these scale charges which are based upon the level of network support, maintenance and training that will be required to ensure repair administration best practice is being observed by the bodyshops please contact the CAPS Consortium directly.
